PRIMARY School Overview
Welcome to Melbourne Montessori College’s Junior School, where multi-age classrooms allow each child to learn from others and develop at their own pace, both socially and intellectually.
Children usually stay with the same teacher for three years, creating strong teacher-student bonds and allowing each educator to develop a deep understanding of each and every student’s unique characteristics, interests and strengths.

Primary Programs
Cycle 1
Cycle 1 is a three-year program for children aged 3 to 6 years (3 and 4-year-old kinder and Prep). It integrates the Australian Early Years Learning Framework and the National Montessori Curriculum. This stage fosters the absorbent mind, joy of learning and remarkable growth within a nurturing environment guided by dedicated educators, shaping confident, lifelong learners.
Cycle 2
Cycle 2 (Years 1 – 3) in Montessori emphasises independence, freedom within boundaries and a global perspective. Mixed-age learning encourages collaboration, as children teach and learn from one another, mirroring real-world teamwork and preparing them for future challenges.
