Roots of Responsibility and Wings of Independence
In the spirit of an inclusive and diverse community, Melbourne Montessori College (MMC) and the MMC Foundation, offer means-tested scholarship opportunities to current and prospective students who would otherwise not have access to an independent Montessori education. Scholarships may be offered on a multiple-year basis at MMC from Years 7-12.
Scholarship Programme Overview
Scholarships are open to applicants who are:
- new or currently enrolled students at MMC and;
- citizens or permanent residents of Australia at the time of application.
All applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for the specific scholarship offered. Please carefully review the criteria for each scholarship type.
General requirements include applicants who:
- are citizens or permanent residents of Australia at the time of application
- would otherwise not have access to an independent Montessori education due to financial constraints and/or difficult circumstances
- are in the applicable scholarship year(s)
- have submitted the MMC Scholarship Application Form
- demonstrate a commitment to their academic studies and embody the Montessori values of respect for self and others, acceptance of the uniqueness and dignity of the individual, kindness, peacefulness, compassion, empathy, honour, individual responsibility, independence, and the courage to speak from the heart
Please note: Where multi-year scholarships are offered, families will be required to confirm ongoing financial need before the scholarship is renewed.
Before completing an application, please read the following documents:
Specific supporting documentation is required to complete the application of each scholarship, including:
- recent school reports and NAPLAN results
- financial documentation to support means-test criteria
- financial statement to support your application
- Australian citizenship permanent residency, within the meaning of the Australian Citizenship Act 1948
Please refer to the MMS Scholarship Application Form for more information on required documentation. MMC may request additional documents to assist with the assessment of your application.
Scholarships are awarded based on financial need, on the selection criteria and interview with the MMC Principal. An interview with the MMC Principal does not indicate that a scholarship will be offered.
Scholarship recipients must maintain strict confidence in accordance with the MMC Privacy Policy.
Scholarship offers are made in writing and the successful applicant agrees to the following terms and conditions:
- accept the Melbourne Montessori College Terms and Conditions of Enrolment
- have read and understood the Terms of Business and Tuition Fee Schedule and agree to abide by these and any regulations in force at MMC
- agree to pay promptly all fees and other money due to MMC
- if there is more than one applicant, each is bound by the Melbourne Montessori College Terms and Conditions of Enrolment, including joint and several liability for payment of fees
- scholarships are awarded on the understanding that the student reflects the school’s values and, to the best of their ability, maintains high standards across their studies and engagement in school activities
- where multi-year scholarships are offered, families will be asked to confirm on-going financial need ahead of the scholarship being renewed

Scholarships are open to applicants who are:
- Prospective or currently enrolled students entering the MMC senior school; and
- Citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia at the time of application.
MMC offers means-tested scholarships including the Montessorian and Senior School Scholarships .
Yes. MMC is committed to providing opportunities for students who would otherwise not have access to an independent secondary school Montessori education.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to their academic studies and embody the Montessori values of respect of self and others, acceptance of the uniqueness and dignity of the individual, kindness, peacefulness, compassion, empathy, honour, individual responsibility, independence, and courage to speak from the heart.
A Financial Assessment is also included as part of the application process.
All applications are assessed by the Scholarships Assessment Committee which includes the principal and nominated executive members of the College. Applicants are reviewed anonymously and all personal information is treated in accordance with the college’s Privacy Policy.
Yes. Previous or current financial assistance or awarded MMC scholarships will not preclude a family from applying for future MMC scholarships.
MMC Bursaries are only available to current students whose families are facing financial hardship and require fee relief to continue attending MMC. It is a one-time partial fee remission offer. For further information, please contact the MMC Principal.
No. All MMC Scholarships are means-tested and require applications to demonstrate a commitment to their academic studies and embody the Montessori values of respect of self and others, acceptance of the uniqueness and dignity of the individual, kindness, peacefulness, compassion, empathy, honour, individual responsibility, independence, and courage to speak from the heart.
A Financial Assessment is also included as part of the application process.
All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by mid September once all interviews and trials have been completed.
Any prospective student who wishes to join the MMC senior school is required to complete an interview with the principal and a trial week.
Trial week involves being a student at MMC for 1 week, joining classes including specialists classes. The trial is to ensure an appropriate match for both the student and school.
Yes. families will need to confirm their continued financial need each year with MMC. They must also inform the Principal of MMC if their financial circumstances change materially during the term of any scholarship awarded.

The MMC Senior School Scholarship is a full fee scholarship and Montessorian Scholarships are partial fee scholarships. Each application is assessed on its own merit and the value of scholarships will vary accordingly.
