Laura L

Laura EDUCATOR

EDUCATOR

Bringing a multidisciplinary perspective to education, Laura holds postgraduate qualifications in Psychology, Montessori 6–12 Education and Intellectual Disability Studies, alongside a Bachelor of Applied Sciences. A Years 1–3 classroom teacher and coordinator, she sees children as capable, values belonging and holds high expectations while supporting their emotional growth and development.

“I have been at MMC for over seven years and am a classroom teacher and coordinator for Years 1–3 (Cycle 2). My qualifications include a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology, Graduate Diploma in Education (Montessori 6–12), Bachelor of Applied Sciences (Naturopathy), and Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Disability Studies.

What interests me most about working with children is the knowledge that children who feel capable and have a sense of belonging are our next leaders and have the ability to shape our world into a place of peace. As educators, we have the possibility of playing a role in this process.

My main focus is building a place where children feel safe and can nurture a sense of belonging and understanding of their place in the world. I think of the child as capable and hold high expectations for them. I also hold space for children’s big feelings, understanding that frustration is a necessary part of growth and should not be avoided.
