Position: Cycle 2 teacher and Cycle 2 leader
How long have you been at MMC? 8 years with a 3 year break in between!
Where were you beforehand? Mitcham Primary School (Montessori Stream)
What do you love about working at MMC?
The children, the supportive relationships with other staff and the trust that the Leadership Team shows us daily.
What inspires you as a Montessori educator/team member?
Watching children have their ‘aha’ moment and seeing the sense of wonder in their eyes. I also love seeing the pride in children when they achieve something that was previously difficult for them.
What is your most memorable teaching moment or moment working in a school?
Seeing all my Cycle 3 children who moved to high school come back to say goodbye to me when they heard I was leaving school.
What’s your most memorable moment as a school student?
Being the flag-bearer in Grade 6.
What are five interesting things about you that we may not know?
- I arrived in Australia from Argentina when I was 14-years-old with very little English.
- I used to play women’s rugby union for Victoria.
- I’m a 4th dan black belt in Karate.
- I love dancing.
- Before becoming a teacher I worked with adolescents with substance abuse and behavioural issues.
What does your weekend look like?
Going to the gym, watching my daughters play sports –basketball, football and netball, enjoying take-aways and playing board games. Sunday is family dinner with my parents, brother and his wife.
What is your favourite Maria Montessori quote and why?
“We shall walk together on this path of life for all things are part of the universe and are connected with each other to form one whole unity.’’
