To Be a Montessorian

Thursday, 10 Mar, 2022

Defined as the way in which two or more people are connected, or the state of being connected, we believe that communicating with one another is essential to fostering positive relationships!

Fundamental to the Montessori philosophy is respect. Respect for one another, respect for our environment, respect for our future and our past. To respect a child means to intentionally act in a way to promote optimal development and learning.

Rigour is central to Montessori pedagogy. Structure, discipline and routine are just some of the aspects of our approach to the curriculum, all informed by the national standards.

Many of us have learnt more about resilience in the past two years than we ever imagined. The ability to carry on, when aspects of life become challenging, is a valuable life skill for children and adults alike.

Don’t forget to relax! Fostering good sleep, relaxing downtime and fulfilling hobbies are just some ways to rejuvenate and avoid burnout.

When you have a good idea, or a vision, be relentless! Keep trying and don’t give up. Aim for progress, not perfection.

In this fast-changing, globalised world… keep it real! You can’t be everything to everybody, you can only be you! Be real, sensible, honest, intentional, objective… be yourself!

Don’t forget to find meaning in the ridiculous. Humour can be a powerful force of engagement and healing. Embrace your inner child and celebrate curiosity!
